Is there anyone out there?

It's a bit slow taking off, this website. I've had cards done and put some in the Spar and the Post Office. Is there anyone who has looked at the site? I'd love some feedback, or even better some input!

I run a veg box scheme - delivering mostly organic vegetables and fruit produced locally to households in Goytre (and other areas if there's interest). I deliver on a Thursday evening between 6 and 7 because many of my customers work or are out during the day. The boxes contain seasonal items so at the moment that means potatoes, carrots, green or red cabbage, squash, onions, broccoli, leeks, cauliflower, green peppers, chilli peppers, beetroor, rhubarb, apples, etc. I grow garlic in goytre and keep free range hens that lay various colour eggs, including blue! Boxes cost £6 (suitable for 1 person), £8, £10 and £12 - including delivery. Contents can be changed if you really don't like any of the items and extra items can be ordered if available.
My other business is an environmental consultancy and I work with various organisations to develop environmental projects. I also run workshops on project planning and management, being 'green', climate change, environmental education - most things environmental really! I'm happy to give talks on subjects to local groups if required.
If you want any more information please let me know
Thanks again

In the beginning...

I know Goytre has it's own website and hopefully we can link up but I thought it would be useful to have something that was readily updateable, useful and fun.
A place to advertise services, stuff for sale / wanted, events, recipes, interesting people, local crime, complaints, anything really, and all for free!

If you have anything to contribute send it by email to goytre.gossip@gmail.com

Dianes Tea & Cakes

I had an invite to go for a cuppa at the Community Centre for tea and cake. A fund raiser for Breast Cancer organised by Diane and her mates, I'm afraid I turned up early but it didn't stop the girls. I must say that the Chocolate Cake was something else. They had a lucky dip, a raffle, and a selection of books etc donated in return you gave a donation.
Above are some photos, please note the ones with a photo all to themselves claimed to be camera shy!
Dianes report...
Thank you for your support last Saturday. We had a really good turn out and on Saturday raised £406. We had lots of people attend and they were very generous in their support of the raffle, ladies lucky dip and bric-a-brac as well as the cuppa and the cake!
Many people who were unable to attend on Sat have very kindly given money to swell the coffers so the amount raised now stands at £446.54. We will now make the £450 mark as my parents have pledged to make it up to £450. All in all a good afternoon lots said it was nice to just sit and have a chat, especially as we all live such very busy lives.
Our next project
Who knows? Perhaps we will leave it to someone elso next year!! but thats a long way ahead.
Kindest regards,
Diane Griffiths.

Local Crimes

Had anything happen to you?
Anything the rest of us can look out for?
Let me know or Monmouth Police - they cover us!!

At the recent horse fair at Usk there was a Horse Trailer stolen, plus the money for another trailer that had just been sold. The person who bought it, nicked the money back while a receipt was being written out. Slight of hand or what!
Also there were 3 stolen dogs there, a Cairn, a Springer and another one (I forget which make). The owner spoke to the person with the dog who obviously denied it and by the time the Police turned up needless to say the dogs had vanished.
I think the Police had someone for the theft of the one trailer.

There seems to be a fair bit of theiving going on in Goytre lately, tools from sheds, a house break. I don't have anymore details.
